Reality

It’s so funny,
I keep forgetting
I am not real,
Expect you to be here,
When the sun goes down,
But you’re not,
Will never be-
You are;

Just a shadow
Of a memory,
Of a dream,
I once had,
That someday,
I would find a man
Who could see me…

Really see,
Look my in the eyes,
and believe,
I see him too…

A dream,
Just a dream,
And in the morning,
The chilly breeze,
Freezes the scream
That tries to tear from my throat,
And I swallow too much,
Trying not to choke
On the reality
Of what is,
And what will never be,
Real for me…

Reality came today,
And slapped me in the face,
Woke me up,
And I looked around the room,
But you weren’t here,
And I felt such sadness,
When I realized,
You would never be,
More than a dream,
I had once,
And tried to believe
It was true …

Reality,
So cold,
So cruel-

How will I forget you?

Such a sense of lonliness, of lost hope. I know that feeling but even these emotions can change. ((((((Retta)))))

Love someone new! Honestly, it is that easy. Shadows are usually taller than the 'reals'. I enjoyed the youth in this, Retta!
