*For A friend in deep sorrow...*

Poem Artwork

Her Eyes

Her eyes reveal the pain
She has endured in her life,
And though she smiles,
It doesn't hide her strife,

Nor her struggles,
As she tries to pull love
From the torn and distant shore,
Trying to capture,
That special feeling once more...

I read her lovely words,
And know what she seeks,
But my dear friend,
Love was never meant for the meek...

Rather your heart must be,
As rooted as the giant oak tree,
Or the pain of love,
Will destroy thee...

I stand in the shadows,
And watch with such sadness,
As love so beautiful,
Turns to madness...

With shiny blade held high,
I watch her carve crimson stars,
In the midnight sky,
Trying to find a way to comfort her,
When I hear her softly muted cries...

But her eyes,
So haunted and bruised,
This lovely lady
So ill used...

How they haunt me!
Making me so afraid,
To take the chance she took,
Watching as she withered
On that baited hook!

Tell me dear world,
How one could be so cruel,
To someone as beautiful,
As you...

an excellent poem Retta

"Love was never meant for the meek...

Rather your heart must be,
As rooted as the giant oak tree,

Will destroy thee... "

Love is never easy, I guess it is meant for the bold
