The Native Spirit Within

In the dark and sleeping world,
The moon rises,
And calls me from my bed.
I rise and Buddha looks at me,
Wondering why I took so long,
Buddha,
My wolf,
Spirit of the forest,
We share the same dreams,
And often run side by side
On darkened trails,
In the dead of night,
We reach the edge of my world,
And sit spent on the ledge of tomorrow,
Watching the stars tumble from the sky-
We hear the creatures of the forest hunting,
And Buddha wants to join them,
The wild in him still,
As it is in me-
Born of a generation,
Bereft of their past,
But still it lies in our blood,
Dormant,
Until the moon rises,
And calls to my tribe,
To rise and build fires,
To dance and beat the drums,
A sound not unlike,
The howl Buddha now makes,
As he calls to his mate…

I build a fire,
And we sit side by side,
And contemplate,
Our life…

Buddha’s mate comes,
As she was called,
And I wonder,
If I call too,
Will you come my love?
And run these paths with me,
Shall we hunt under the silver moon?
Will you kiss me?
And make love to me,
Here in the Forest of the Moon?

Shall I rise and dance for you,
Entice you to my dreams,
Where I will capture your soul,
And make it mine,
Forever...

I clasp my hands around my knees,
And hear the call of the wolf,
The screech of the white owl,
Hooded yellow eyes,
That peer at me and wonder why,
I sit alone on this mountain side…

A vast low humming,
Heard in the marrow of my bones,
And I know without turning,
I am no longer alone…

I feel your warm breath,
On the back of my neck,
Your soft kisses causing my blood
To stir and my spirit to come alive,
I turn my head and catch your lips,
Feel your love enter and flow into my soul…

This,
This is the feeling,
I have longed to know,
To love and be loved,
To be one with the world,
To be one,
With you,
Under the Hunter’s moon…

Sultry and sophisticated poetry. Like you sliced something in half and let it bleed. You do this with your soul and let it flow to paper in the finest form. Excellent work. It is so beautiful. Lovely after thoughts.

Thank You,
Teresa Emilie

This is a spiritual ritual of an inner calling come to pass. It is the creature in us that beckons the pureness of the man and the brothers and sisters of the wolf. It is a whole nother mystery that some understand and others miss. Great job on this one.
