We set aside one day each year
To honor the woman we love
Now and forever;
How nice is it that we all have
A mother?
Someone we could never live
Without;
She gives life without demanding
Love without conditions
Joy without trying;
Her only rivals are puppies
And kittens and
Warm cozy mittens;
But even they are no match
For her knowing smile
Her precious hugs
Her endless encouragement;
In the Divine Plan
No one gives more
Expects less
Or has the patience
The goodness
And the heart
To put up with
Us.
Thank heaven
For little girls
Especially those
Who get bigger every day
And become Moms.
A wonderful tribute to our mothers. One of the best things we could do for them is leave as soon as we are of age to do so. Allow them to give a little back themselves rather than selfishly hang on to them like-year-olds for the rest of our lives.
I am happy for the ones who had the kind of mother you describe within this poem, Edward. Unfortunately, there are those, like me, who had just the opposite kind of a mother. I'm not very sentimental on Mother's Day. It just brings back bad memories to me.
