A grove of trees stand tall down near the creek,
Where there is etched upon one special tree,
Our names within a heart for all to see.
I remember that day we walked, hand in hand,
You kissed me and told me you love only me,
And would prove it to me by carving our names on that tree.
I watched as you carefully chiseled away the bits of bark,
Then smiled and stepped aside so that I could see,
Both names carved upon our sweetheart tree.
Years have passed and now we have grown old,
But just one more time, I’d like to walk with you hand-in-hand down to our tree,
Where you would again kiss me and tell me you continue to love only me.
