Vision

A woman dressed in black
Stood at the end of the dock
She pointed to the west
To the other side of the velvet lake
Where the wild loons were wailing
And mirrored mountains shimmered
I looked to where she was pointing
Saw the sun smile on crystal water
Among cotton candy clouds
Closed my eyes for a moment
When I opened them
Looked once more
At the rugged wooden pier
The woman clad in black was gone
Only a crow stood where she had been
And then it too was gone

I am a firm believer in visions. I have had many things such as this happen to me. Was this vision real?
It sounds more like a reality to me, than a vision. I am not normal.
Blessings on you!

Lovely poem Regis...oooohhhh and so mysterious. One thing interesting about looking to the west. Well, as you go further and further west, you eventually arrive in the east. And this poem is very eastern metaphysical. ~ Sara

Dear Regis

A thought provoking and well crafted write Regis. There are many myths surrounding the crow, my late gran used to tell us they were the harbingers of bad news. I personally find them extremely fascinating and highly intelligent. Below is an excerpt which I found rather interesting.

"In Mythology and folklore crows and especially ravens often feature as portents or harbingers of doom or death. In mythology and folklore as a whole, crows tend to be symbolic more of the spiritual aspect of death, or the transition of the spirit into the afterlife. Amongst the Neopagans crows are often thought to be highly psychic and are associated with the element of ether or spirit."

Thanks for sharing.

It is uncanny the power that these amazing "trompe de l'oeil" can have... especially if they are imbued with "meaning"... which this must have been to have made such a mark on you, Regis. This may be the beginning to a fascinating piece of fiction, or it may be the first encounter of a mysterious journey yet to be unfurled, but you create wonderful mystique and atmosphere here and draw the reader into the surreal nature of it all brilliantly. Bless you and thank you. Kate xx

You have written a very intriguing poem Mr. Regis

Crows are animals that are known for carrying many different types of wisdoms in creation. Here are just a few that I have read and found to be very interesting.

Guardians of the place before existence,
Ability to move in space and time,
Honoring ancestors,
Carrier of souls from darkness into light,
Working without fear in darkness,
Guidance while working in shadow,
Moves freely in the void,
Understands all things related to ethics,
Shapeshifters

I think we "humans" could learn a thing or two about our beautiful friends of creation.

Good description of the fleeting images of things we sometimes think we see--or maybe actually do see--who knows? I remember one time being in Santa Fe on the plaza on a rainy evening and seeing a Spanish Lady in a black shawl walk into one of the houses. Later on, I swear she walked throgh my dining room in Farmington, and when she left, I wanted to write again, after a 20 year silence.

In the spirit world a visit from a Crow is a spiritual visit from someone in the past.

I have to wonder now who the woman was. You need to look into this since you're now a conduit.

You're a lucky choice so I'm told. When a crow comes to you then you are to be a messenger.

Great poem. See how your words motivated my thinking.
