He tried to end his life today,
with a massive overdose.
He believes nobody cares for him,
even those that care the most.

So he took his medication
all at once to end the pain,
which caused a massive stroke,
and two large bleeds within the brain.

And he's been on life support now,
for just under a week,
while I sit beside his bed
and hold his hand and softly speak.

In the hope that he can hear me,
in his semi-conscious state,
and realize how much I love him,
although he's doubted it of late.

Though when he wakes, I know he'll be
so angry and distraught,
for not allowing him to die,
the way he'd planned and thought.

And he will become abusive,
to myself and nurses too,
and deny he tried to end it all,
the way most people do.

And he won't believe I've traveled
may miles, every day,
because I care about him,
no matter what I say.

He'll believe I go to visit
out of meanness or from spite,
and say, he never asked me
to visit, and he's right.

I go because I want to,
and I go because I care,
I go because when all's said and done,
that's my brother lying there.

With more tubes into his body
than I've ever seen before,
his life hung in the balance,
his survival still unsure.

So When he wakes, even if he says
that I can go to Hell,
That's ok, I can live with that,
as long as he gets well.
