In a Coil

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Added a little to this text as I didn’t have the time to finish it yesterday. This is NOT a story of conflict with another. This is about irrational fears. How we meet them and vanquish them only to have to face them again and again. We live, we learn. These days it’s about fears that are instantly recognized for what they are, and they only make me avoid new situations where feelings are to strong to handle.

In the moonlight reflecting a distant dream
Watch it slip away with a silent scream

All the sweet aches and the sweet pain
that cannot wash away, they still remain

The heart in turmoil, the soul in a coil

The body that crave so sweet
the mind that is set on retreat

They do not mix and mingle
as they are each a single
shard of the parts that spin
to create this turmoil within

Love, a strong flame continuously burn
while the heart has its lessons to learn
Not to run away in panic and fear
as the signs of true love draws near

This feeling of flight so strong
heart and soul know it's wrong
My mind still find its reasons
to committ this treason

Time after other this battle commense
when it does'nt even make sense

Windmills chasing in vain
time and time again

Perhaps it is the ever lasting struggle between good and evil that sometimes brings our thinking to a cramp caused by a boa constrictor inside squeezing the hell out of us.

May the cramp disappear in the light of the moon and day shine on a lovely life ahead beyond this conflict expressed in your poem.
