As the shadows are closing in

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Outgrowing a way of thinking is sometimes a blessing.

Saturday, July 22, 2023

As the shadows are closing in
memories are dancing in a ring

As if watching the final steps
go onward with frantic reps'

Soon to be out of sight,
the true beginning of life

Commence the spark
that wash away the
dark

Free enough to see
illusion unwind
to
unmasque what is
behind

The end of illusions'
invasive intrusion
no more confusion

As the shadows are closing in.

Ron! The shadows must close in, in order for us to see them for what they are and let them mingle with the light, to create strength in balance.

Yes, a blessing to leave worries behind. But there is something dark about "the shadows closing in."
