THIS TOO ... COULD BE LOVE ___________________________

But … Don’t divulge it to the saints … so you won’t compel them to blush Don’t suggest it to neglected wives … so you won’t induce them to tears Don’t posit it to recalcitrant husbands … so you won’t make them prejudiced Don’t whisper it to solitary hearts … so you won’t excite them to fantasy For this too … could be love This mental aloofness … This heartfelt anxiety … so disquieting … so agonizing … This solitude … this emotional detachment This long … and unwarranted absence … These qualms … these delusions This too … could be love These sleepless nights … these nights of lewd yearnings These indiscreet thoughts … like dissonant drumbeats These unfeasible dreams … so fervent … so exasperating This flight of imagination … Of things that should materialize … but aren’t … still … This too … could be love This unremitting distress These spontaneous tears This fruitless expectancy These messages … unacknowledged This too … could be love This livable experienced … never lived This attainable goal … never attained This tangible object of desire … never touched This pairing … often contemplated … never accomplished This flaming passion … never relished These heartburns … these imaginings … these cravings … That keep flourishing … with manic steadfastness In feeble hearts … night and day … Like aromatic herbs in a lush shrubbery All these … you ought to know Whether apt or inapt … Epitomize … The miscellany Of Love. © 2005 Augustine Sam From the anthology: SENSUAL ILLUSIONS

The uniqueness of this is what appealed to me as much as the
thought-provoking questions embedded within the sensually tinctured

This is really good Sam, it takes a look on the lives of many, without being personal, it reflects on their memories, without being specific.
