MILK THAT IS SPILLED

There is no need to cry over
Spilled milk
There is no need to cry over
Crumbs
There is no need to cry over
Ripped silk
There is no need to cry over
Beating Drums
You knew who he was and what he was
But you denied and went with him anyway
And when you could deny no more
When everything he was
Finally showed in the day
You cried
Hurting and wondering
Why, why you
But he told you
But he showed you
He was not for you
But you insisted
So now you
Spill your tears like milk
And you are crushed like crumbs
You rip all your gifts of silk
And your heart is beating heavily like drums
And you want someone to feel for you
You want someone to pity you
Well I don’t
For you had all the red flags
As signals to warn you
But you ignored everyone
So receive the heartbreak you
Requested when you chose
To ignore the spilled milk
Don’t cry over it
Accept it.

Reviews of "Milk That is Spilled"
Reviewed by Ronald Hull
Reviewed on March 1, 2020
Reads like sweet revenge for someone spurned. On the other hand, it could be just belated advice for someone who thought that love was real when it wasn't. So many young marriages are like that… One-sided and codependent. That's why the divorce rate is so high. But it's usually the woman that suffers. The poem suggests that she suffers too much, and needs to get on with her life and not make the same mistake again.
