Only what's done for God will last and I have done little for Him. But sometimes we all become so wrapped up in how little we are and how great God is, as well as how little we do for Him that we lose sight of the small things that we do fulfill in His service. If the Lord places just a cup of water in our hands, that is all that He demands. Even if we faithfully provided Him with that cup of water, we're often too concerned about everything else to understand how we've been blessed

I begged and pleaded with the Lord

for all my missing acts.

I should do this,

I must do that,

all for His glorious name.


I begged forgiveness

then shortly paused

for Him to say

"A cup of water please."


So I drew him drink

so cold, so fresh,

with ice to make it cool,

and brought to Him

my finest glass to refresh

with my regrets intact.


The cathedral which I never built,

the tabernacle grand,

oh why, oh why,

they never were was part of my lament.


And when my wailings were complete,

and His glass was done,

He thanked me for the water

and said "that's all that I require."


And when the Lord went on His way,

I worried over how I did.
