The secret life of a Nixon kid

Politically, I'm more conservative than I'm given credit for, due in large part, I think to heredity and environment (I grew up in a Republican area), so I was something of a supporter of Richard Nixon when he was President (the worst thing about that time, at least in my opinion, was that the public mood favored someone like Nixon). I did, however, go off the reservation often.

I clicked with Dick,

I thought he was the one,

Now more than ever...

Oh, but there was another side.

I laughed at the mimics

who did his voice,

I even traded a pair of peace signs

with a pair of rad-libs while traveling

through a college town.

Spiro was my hero,

I pulled for Tricky Dick,

But Masters would have to know

about my musical "distilled spirits".

I was vulnerable  when

I heard the Midnight Cowboy's

sad lament,

Like my youth, the song was sad and lonely.

Hope Tricia never knew.

You do bring back some memories, Steve; even though I live in Canada. Happy New Year to you with love and peace,

Regis

Steve,

I'm one of them, too. Conservative, Republican, what have you - we pin our hopes on a man, and more often then not, are sorely disappointed when they don't live up to our expectations. Well penned.

(((HUGS))) love and Merry Christmas!, Karla.

Tricia was a real beauty. So was this writing, although tongue and cheek. Great Job.

GOD BLESS
Tony
