In the beginning
God created unending
anguish between
man and woman:
on the Second Day
ferocious, unspeakable
battles among
angry nations:
on the Third
ancient hatred
between rich and poor:
on the fourth,
blood red mayham
between black and
white, red and brown:
on the fifth,
rightous slaughter
among the faithful,
Christian, Jew,
Muslim, Hindu --
it hardly matters:
on the Sixth Day, a
raging war was brought
forth from us upon
ourselves, yes, upon
the weeping earth,
whose species
are trembling now in
in mortal horror.
Then on the Seventh
Day, hallelujah, lo,
the Lord rested as
damn well he should!
If only more thinking such as this would use reason and rational appreciation of history to honestly accept the saga of violence man has always embraced, we just might have a chance of surviving ourselves. But, as long as the definition of war=religions, we will continue our self-destructive bent. You've penned a simple, yet poignant parody too few will read... unfortunately.
I like this. Very original. It is very interesting how Christians feel that their Bible speaks truth to them and that God is somehow kind and good, when all people do is bicker and fight about which religion is best. if God created us, he/she? sure created a wild bunch, bent on bloodlust and greed.
