A reflection of lost love
Strangers by the river Strolling down the stream A mother and her daughter The girl in just her teens Suddenly it struck me I’d seen their face before Staring through my window Walking through my door There’s no doubt about it No uncertainty at all Passed me at the speed of light My life now in the fall My memory returning The mother was that girl Years passed and still I’m yearning Too late to change my world

A sad and deep longing so well expressed in these few lines.
The last line makes the regret more profound "Too late to change my world".
