I Walk

A walk that opens my mind.

I wake up

Get dressed and

Go to work.

I come home and

Turn on the television

For companionship

More than anything else.

I take off my work clothes

And put on my sweat suit.

I turn on my music

And walk.

And walk and walk and walk.

It's said that walking is relaxing

---it isn't.

At least not for me.

My problems all surface and

I am tense.

I think about the day

The month, the year

My life.

I turn up the music and walk.

That helps for a little while.

I want to run.

Run fast, run free, run away.

But I don't run

Because I don't want my boobs to sag

So I walk.

And walk and walk and walk.

I walk home

Undress, shower and eat.

I turn off the television and go to sleep.

Tomorrow is another day.

Maybe a good day

To walk.

Ah, go ahead and have a good run...or a brief sprint (100 yards or so). Of course, do your warm up walk first. I liked your conclusion that tomorrow is another day. True!!

Very honest writing!

I love this in it's simplicity, as well as all it says just under the surface. Great piece Ana...Michelle
