My cameras have served me well
travelled far and wide
for many years,
been witness to
so many occasions
like when I met
Yuri Gagarin.
Those cameras were captured
how they fell in love
with the girl I married
all those years ago.
They were there to watch
as Churchills coffin passed by
that Saturday morning
in 1965.
Those cameras delighted
at meeting Sonny and Cher
at The Mount Royal Hotel.
How they marvelled
in north west London
when in July of '69
in the early hours of the morning
man was on the Moon walking.
They observed my daughter being born
watched me hold her
in my arms.
Meandered around Europe
were excited by Venice
oh how those cameras
have in those years travelled.
Sadly they were obscured
with tears that fell
watching those that passed in death
after so many years.
Yet they have stood the test of time
nowdays need spectacles
but they are fine,
my eyes
my cameras
still serve me well
after all these years.
So, while you're poem is uplifting, it is also a reminder of some loss to me.
