Grandpa, did you ever think You would live to be this old? “No, and I didn’t want to either.” I think you shocked me with those words, but I understand now watching the eyes of our people close listening to new babies cry hoping to recognize the voice of someone from our past. My bones hurt when it rains And I don’t quite care anymore if the house gets painted or anyone remembers I was here. Sometimes, all I want is a hot cup of coffee, a book that will tell me something new, the silence that reminds me of being content.

Sometimes, all I want

We can only fight for so long on this planet. Yes, the silence where you grow and not where you wonder.
My most favorite family member, Grandma Gunvor, my Fathers Mother, lived to be 96. Sheesh! She just fell down one day and didn't get back up. I loved her so much. We were such kindred spirits. And she baked the most exquisite bread from Swedish recipes and heaped on me a most incredible love. Your poem reminds me of her so much. I'm really looking forward to seeing her again. I'm feeling weary today.
