with prayers for release
from the sins I relish and can't
relinquish.
Hope wakes me
and I run
for food offered to gods
on an altar that isn't mine to touch
where I leave a sentence or two
and make believe
skin hunger
is satisfied
through thoughts
trapped
in my pen
writing words never read
