A blast of cold air, the wind dances
precariously over the alley floor.
Natures fury overcomes
everything within its' confines.

Dreams of a better life satiate the
minds of its' nomads ; but for now,
just seeing a new day will suffice.
too cold to sleep they caress themselves
for even the slightest comfort.

They are unable to remember what their
final sustainance was or came from.
An empty feeling of pain rumbles to the pit
of their bellies. Every muscle constricts with
each breath taken.

Seeking the forbidden comfort of warmth,
an extra layer of cardboard will have to do.
Is this all there is? Sleep finally comes
with vows of a new beginning, but
tomorrow never comes.

Vivid details, Paul. It's sad to call this reality. Chilling.

If i had one wish, it would be that everyone had a warm bed to lie in. WE took in a man without one not long ago, It hurt to see him have to go too. You humanitarian you, bless you.
