I don't remember the last time
I played in the park,
I felt like a child,
my pleasure was stark.
I don't remember the last time
my heart leapt in the dark,
but I didn't know it was the last time.

I don't know the last time
that I'll see your face,
walk by your side,
or feel your embrace.
I don't know the last time
that I'll win the race,
but I don't think I'll know it's the last time.

How can I know when the last time has come?
So many last times have come and gone.
I lie and wonder until the dawn,
grieving for the last time.

Mark Sebring (Late 1990s)

 Reviews of "The Last Time"

For everything we do in our lives, there will one day come a Last Time. 🦢
I'm not sure why but it seems I'm more aware of Last Times than most people.
So many have come, long before I expected them. 😞

🤡: Nothing turned out quite like I expected.
I didn't expect my dreams to crash and burn the way they did.
I didn't expect to be betrayed by people I trusted.
I had hoped there might be someone who would understand me
and appreciate my artistic endeavors.
I didn't expect there would be no one who cared.
(How bright my frail deeds might have danced in a green bay.)
I had hoped to do some travelling after I retired.
I didn't expect I'd have no one to go with me.
And, most of all, I didn't expect my love life to end so soon.
I had believed it would last forever.
I think I'm ready to die now.
Sometimes I feel like I'm already dead.
I've done my best to explain my pain and disappointment here
but no one will read any of it 'til after I'm gone.
I hope someone will be interested then.
