"enigma" was a character I created for an online philosophy group years ago.
He mostly posted nonsense verse and riddles.
He had a thread in several groups called "Enigma's Puzzle Page".🧩

An explanation here: it's a parody
Not intended to offend
It's nothing more than a travesty
Between you and I, and all our friends

So take to heart, it's a paradox
Of how it is supposed to be
Please don't leave to shop for socks
It is meant enigmatically

Oh Lord, I plead, teach me to read
That I might comprehend
And ABC's appear before me
To further my knowledge of what is pretend.

I am standing on the edge of reality
Staring thinly into the abyss.
And I'm wondering if anyone knows me
Or if they notice that something's amiss.

I emerge from my perch, a great thinker,
But I am paralyzed because of my heart.
For it's courage you see, that is lacking in me,
And I really don't know where to start.

Though wise I may be
I still had to go
Scare Tweedledee
With a monstrous crow.

To make a new start
I wonder if I can
Tin plate my heart
And still remain a man.

Tryin' to reveal me
Without too much lyin'.
Cowardly Mister E,
Though I would be a lion.

Friends of my memory,
What shall I tell them?
Auntie Em's searching for me
And she knows who I am.

A cowardly lion is trying to roar!
(But it's like the wind inside a cup)
At those he worships and adores
Who've kind of got his dander up.

His heart is torn asunder.
His mind is filled with fear.
It sometimes makes him wonder
Just what is he doing here?

Ah, Lotus-flower! enjoy the quest.
You must contest the rising sun.
Rushing toward that one final test
Where the truth-seeker's victory is won.

Notice the youth as he stokes up the fire
And the old woman trying to slow.
They pause from their search to inquire
What my Lotus-flower wishes to know.

(From "Ah! Sun-flower" by William Blake)

Lotus, dark angel, don't YOU know who I am?
Or does my every word just make you say "Hey?"
To tell you the truth, I do know who you are
Underneath your disguise and I hope that's o-kay.
Standing on the edge, questioning what reality is,
Forming an hypothesis while wondering "Who is he?"
Learning the truth and believing what it may be,
Our time is passing while we wile away each hour
Working on a mystery, though a mystery am I.
E. Nigma is my name and the game that it's in
Reveals my other name just to make you say "Gee!"

(This poem revealed enigma's real name.❓
Notice that the poem does not rhyme.
Then read the last syllable of every line.)

Some say a witch is made of wood
And like a duck floats on a pond.
One hints that they may dance on air.
I think that she might be a blonde.

Another claims they're made of copper,
Like a penny in the hand.
That would explain their greenish palor.
But as for me..., as for me...,
I would that they be made of sand.

(Could I have some o' that there soup, please?)

Pray tell me, dear lady, what say you?
Who do you say that the king is?
Is it August Charles Magna or Great Alexander?

Methinks my question was too cryptic.
Perchance you did not understand.
Dear lady everbev, aunty em,
Dost thou know just who I am?
Kindly answer "yea" or "nay" please.
Recall how Hamlet pledged his friends.

Be patient lady, be patient dear,
'Tis not yet time to tell thee true .
Be clever lady, be clever dear,
'Tis time for yet another clue.

Since this could be a type of club,
Let Alex be the King of Clubs
As he is dubbed.

By virtue of his noble heart,
Let Charles be called the King of Hearts
As she imparts.

(More cryptic clues to enigma's identity.)

everbev, you shining star,
very like the sun you are.
every clever word you say
reveals a mind that's bright and gay,
brings a chuckle to each day.
ever steadfast, ever true ,
valiant kings bow down to you.

Wink knew little Lars Tittle.
Weird nohow, a weary thou
He put above his hog world.
Odd like mania, eh stinky?

(This poem is an anagram of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".)

Did you catch Old Bing's remark?
"Just look what the maker brings."
He insists the rings embark
And recognized the reb markings!
Could it be the Gimber Snark?
The offspring of the Bremar Kings?

(This poem, from Marge Brinks' MSN profile, is filled with anagrams

E. Nigma is my name
But you may call me Mr. E
For an enigma I am
And a mystery I will always be.

I have added a puzzle, hidden messages, and a cryptic language 🧩
to my house with many rooms. Can you solve them?

Enjoyed, especially for their humor and the enigmic connotations.
