"Price" is what was paid for it.

Lives of Quiet Desperation

Giver and Taker are man and wife.
Giver and Taker are in love with each other.
Giver gives Taker everything they want.
Giver doesn't get much that they want.
Giver doesn't tell Taker how they feel.
Taker is completely oblivious.
Later in life, Giver begins to realize
that many of their dreams will never come true.
Giver recognizes that there isn't much time left.
Giver begins to wonder if Love is all that matters.
