It was raining this morning
when you sent me a text message.
The steady sound of the water
tap, tap, tapping against the creek out back
reminded me of your heart beat.
We used to be steady like the rain.
Necessary.
You called me baby in your message
and sent me a kiss.
You used to cover me with kisses
in the mornings,
quenching my thirst for your touch.
Today I listened as the grass
drank the rain thirstily.
It’s funny how we can’t quite let go
and can’t quite get back together.
It’s much like the rain –
you only miss me/want me when I’m not there.
I miss the Carpenters …
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down, too.
Love Tinka
Be safe,
Karen
This is sad, soul searching and emotional. I miss The Carpenter's also.
