 When you were born I held you close my heart cried out with joy.
 Brother for my son,  brother for the other one I love.
Little hands and Little feet you needed my protection then
And as you grew my love grew too-- for two; for him and you; your Mother hen.
Those years of being the one who cared intense, your shelter for each day
Helped you to grow both strong and free your gift the music that you play.
You took what God had given you and worked to be the best
Knowing you I never doubted I expected nothing else, no less.
So now that you're a man full grown with a life that you have chosen
I wish you well, I wish you wealth I wish you all you needed
No matter how my heart may ache my job is now completed
I step away I take a breath I pay the price, so hard to let you go-
But you were never mine it's just that as a child I thought 'twas so
Take the freedom that is yours and fly to the highest you can be
Just somewhere quiet in your heart stop once, and remember me. ©hjv
