To all my friends at the den
Please forgive me
For not reviewing your wondeful
inspiring treasued writings.

I woke a week ago
Had a brain fart, early one morning
Was insipred
No, not to write my thoughts
Nor any romantic fantasy
of mine
But one of creation.

There was something missing
In my garage
That I noticed most of my friends
Possessed
Believe me, not one of them
"Made it"
They all purchased it
Just for show and tell.

"A Work Bench"
A haven
For all my macho bullshit tools,
Gadgets and whatevers.

I had secluded myself
From early morning's dawn
Till late nights
Going to bed only after
I had cleaned up after myself.

Yes it took me a week
To accomplish
My task at hand
I am very proud of myself
Because when you look at it.

Buddy!
You'll know, it was built my me
Oh, it's level all around
That I made sure of
Other then that
I feel like
Dr. Victor Frankenstein
But it was made
With "Me Own Two Hands"
No matter how ugly it appears to be.

As a woodworker, myself, William, all I can say is, there's nothing quite like the pleasure of crafting something with your own two hands. I have my workshop (yes, a table, too, and it's sure not perfect either) in my basement. I love going there and often lose all sense of time, just as you described in your poem. Congratulations on a job well done -- who the hell cares if it isn't perfect! I'm proud of you!
Love,
CJ

Creation, of any kind, is a truly marvelous thing, William, and I hope you and Your Masterpiece get to spend lots of time together!

You've also inspired me to create a few things I've had on the back burner for a long time now. Create On!

It's a workbench! Meant to serve a purpose and to give you a space to be creative. We don't need a beautiful tome to write our beautiful words and we don't need a perfect workbench to create a perfect memory. It is right that the workbench should be the first project and a "benchmark" if you will, of how far you have come with each ensuing project. You should have posted a picture of it here with your poem, William. Congrats on completing your table of future creativity.
Take care,
Sherry

anything made by one's two hands is indeed an accomplishment ... doesn't matter how it looks as long as it accomplishes its goal ...

A work bench that truly reflects "work." Brilliant.

Bill,

As long as you like it, who cares what it looks like? It was made with your own two hands, and made with love. :) Well done, William, and congratulations. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
