A quiet lady, not one to join
In sewing groups and Morning Teas.
Not given to idle chatter or "bring-a-plate" days.
Dressed neatly and carefully in full-length sleeves.

A Sunday presence in a corner pew
Through sermons of the Father she anxiously fidgets.
Looking neither right nor left yet somehow elsewhere
While she counts her blessings in single digits.

Aloof, reserved or just plain shy,
She's judged by those who know her not well.
"A hard one to know" and touchy to boot.
May be a bit "funny", but it's too hard to tell.

But if you tread softly and take the time
To win her trust and be a friend who'll last
She may roll up her sleeves to reveal her story,
In the razor thin lines that speak of her past.
