Historic political satire.
Thoughts, humanity, history, satire.

“The Knight-Errant Of Big Apple”

I

I reminisce, and clear pictures of felines come to my mind:
“Tiger, ocelot, jaguar, bobcat, leopard, cougar and cheetah”.
Ah, Cheetah! This one should be crowned Queen of the Plains,
Empress of the grassland and Miss Beauty of the wilderness!
Cheetah is the fastest and most elegant live runner on Earth!

II
Man made a lion — a king of the wild animal kingdom…
Man snores, man disobeys, man snorts, man lies, man dishevels;
Man does all he said he wouldn’t and degrades his word…
Man signs peace agreement and breaks into his neighbor’s home!
— Is there a kingdom of whole sacred and non-wild animal?

III
An anointed king called himself “The Lion of the Nile”,
And the lion of the Nile’s ambition made him an emperor.
I nap and dream, I awake and then I nap… Senility?
Perhaps I dream that I am dialoguing with my peers!

IV
Hey, Panda buddy, you remind me of a black panther…
No, no, no! You resemble more like a giant lemur!
Don’t get angry, just be alert and keep an eye on mankind!
Oh, no, my sneeze! Ah, Ah, ah… This morn allergy…!
I caught this condition… meow! — Why am I talking to you?
You don’t respond, Panda! I wander how you feel inside…
For Proteus’ sake, get some live form, any breathable one,
So we can chant and praise the protean omniform art…!

V
For Zeus, say a word… move, lovely Panda, be live!
Ah, so sad! I forgot that you are inanimate, again!
If I could talk to someone with an Elysian magic;
An Olympian… Odin, Jove, Asclepius, or Apollo,
I would ask for a breath of life for you, silent Panda,
But I am not allowed to get near those entities…!

VI
I know that it isn’t bad to be mute, for one doesn’t err,
And this is the way one never agrees or contends…
I would enjoy talking to you, — even if you could talk; —
I wouldn’t be sad if you called me a “neuron less”,
Because friends are the real mirrors of true buddies.

VII
I live my days here; — it’s my art to live them up, —
Preventing sorrows as wisely as I can stand the time!
But I am sick, — it’s an allergic condition — I guess.
It’s acquired since I left the grassland near the jungle.

VIII
It’s yore since I left my loved peers in our habitat
In the sylvan land, — where I played around the bushes.
A pleasurable life... I had a blissful habitation...
I could find the right medicine to heal any malady!

IX
Now I live in a tall tree, which humans call skyscraper;
I eat packed food, and stay alone most of the time,
Except for some hails my neighbors good healthy day!
Yes, I have co-tenants in the high rise where I dwell,
But I can’t talk to them… — Do I have Freedom of Speech?
Yes, but it lacks “viability”… It feels like I am fettered…
I can’t find a path to get to them — it’s preternatural!

X
I’m not a high flown or snob… I want to free voices!
Thank thee my inside Mentor, I live my will in me!
In the morns I hunt flies and insects in my quarters,
In the afternoons I overview the city and take naps;
I can see it through the windows of this new world!

XI
There are so many glass windows in my dwelling place,
That is why I see the capital of the planet frequently!
When I nap I have many dreams, which I relive vividly!
I feel proud when I think of my relatives… “König Löwen”…
The lion, or “Lion King” as humans would refer to him,
Is one of them… I enjoy dreaming of my relatives…!

XII
Oh, I have so many questions to ask! I am so curious…
Why human kings depict lions on their coat of arms?
Why don’t they ever paint elephant, cobra or rattlesnake?
Why don’t they engrave the silhouette of their own kind?

XIII
I can recall the time when “Meow,” meant MEOW, and peace…
Peace meant to respect each other’s flag and sovereignty;
Justice had sisters by the names of “Equity and Democracy”,
Which never met with corruption, bribery and plutocracy!

XIV
The peaceful days were then, before Men were made Kings;
And prior to the lures of Peace Organizations, Human Rights,
Children rights, Freedom of Speech, animal rights’ forums;
Forums of Nations, — United for globalization of war; —
Foster societies for degradation, slavery and starvation…
And the fierce — Union of the Predatory Head of States, —
Incorporated as the “United Nations’ Security Council!”

XV
Hustles in Brussels — and executive orders pile mountainously

From gods of Wall Street, THE CAPITAL of the animal kingdom.

Mandamus to sell weapons, provide Peace and instigate WARS;

Ordinances to Cut Credit Line, Release of funds and Trade Fields…

All said and done under the signet of the GREAT EAGLE,

Nestled with its eaglets at ONE SIX, O, O, Pennsylvania Avenue,

Where they moved in from their first nest in Wall Street.

XVI
On sunny days I can see Gracie Mansion by the east river,
The Palace of the King of the City Capital of the World.
I look down southeast and see the edifice of the nations;
That is the place where — Five Wolves control who hunts the PREY —
And the rest of the members play games such as security,
Peace, “Rights of the KITTIES”, Human Rights, and "Ay, Aye, Sirs!"

XVII
If mammal man accepts to serve Mammon and his Five Lords;

If the "Game" is — war at your door — when Peace spoils WAR…

— What can a KNIGHT-ERRANT fettered in a man’s castle do?

I am a Tabby Cat snorting to wake up “KITTIES NATIONS!”

I have not read you in a great while. But with this piece, you bring forth the feline kingdom of the earth in an allegory quite profound from your viewpoint near the center of the financial universe we call planet Earth. Yes, the Lions control the Security Council. But the Cold War probably was ended more by the United Nations then we want to believe. Now it's time for the kitties to roar.

To a great psychological depth; brightly construed, allegorized, and composed. I remember the inception of this poetic paradigm. Your honing of it has (with even greater incisiveness) sharpened the prophetic nature of the message. Continued inspiration ...

Waking up is one thing. Perhaps ignorance is bliss to most.To wake up would mean the realization something is WRONG but "Oh dear what can I do?" No, I will go back to sleep. It's easier that way.Let those awake follow the pied piper to the wharf !!
