My Tormented Heart

Still writing about one situation long after it ended. It is still good writing material so I can't complain; that cloth is almost wrung out though.

You were like a door I couldn't unlock

A stairway leading back to the beginning

Riddles that I didn't figure out

Kept me wondering, kept me spinning

Spiraling downward into the flames

That tantalized my poor heart

They lied and enticed me to believe

Answers would show me where to start

Wanting but not knowing how to find

Desperate to see a return of the same

One moment I knew what you were thinking

The next not sure if I knew your name

Running head first into the confusion

Only to find the light was dark

If I thought for one minute you knew me

I was a glowing neon easy mark

I refuse to own the misplaced blame

As much as it is my fault for trying

Looking into your eyes without falling

Would mean I had already started dying

It's not my cross to carry around

Your lack of clarity skews your vision

One person cannot abscond

Run off with another's decision

We had our chance, the moment long passed

Not a new one will be presented

No closure no words no resolution

Will keep my heart tormented

You (We) Times Just Do Not Know
How Lucky You Are...

If You Do Not Let Go Something
Will Let (IT) Go For You!

Now Turn Around Walk Away
And Do Not Never Look Back...

Very nice write. If it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger for the next time around. There's always risk when we put our hearts on the line.

"One moment I knew what you were thinking / The next not sure if I knew your name"

Talk about telling it so there is no confusion about your meaning. I understand about writing about the same thing so long. I had many years living in the dark, and although not so much these days I still find myself writing about the dark days ever so often.
