Her eyes

How wonderful her eyes are!

A drunken mist hovers

over her dreamy eye lashes

and the Moon swims over her eye lids.

O, Yes! How wonderful are her eyes!

Endowed with timelessness, calm and peace;

her eyes, an ode to the Buddha’s image of serenity.

The Himalayan snow, shimmering on the temple

of the sky, dominating the Nepalese landscape

looks so desiccated and barren in front of her eyes.

Within her eyes confines a world - old and new,

century old traditions, continuation of arts, crafts, beauty and the literature painted antique face books as a jewel in the crown.

Gazing deep into her eyes,

I feel like being in a Time Machine.

As I plunged myself inside her Fewa eyes,

I heard prehistoric melodies of artisans

carving a piece of stone, and a log of wood

to give them a form for the whole world to savor.

Her eyes are an ode to the Kathmandu Valley.

A very beautiful poem, Bhuwan!

We are often told not to put women on a pedestal in these hard-boiled times, i.e. no let-your-hair-hang-down Sally poems, but you've shown Beauty is still the domain of poetry writers.

A part of the world I have not been priviledged to visit, yet through your words of beauty and serenity I can see so much. God bless...

Be always safe,
Karen
