From Seed to mighty tree

Poem Artwork

Another Giant of the Forest, has Fallen.

It all starts with a tiny seed.

Love of the Parent, propels the need

This seed fell into solid ground

Destiny  conceived, he'd be long time around.

As roots took hold in moist soil

The ground above hard, it would be toil!

Yet pushing on through anchored below

He thrived, slowly, then did mightily grow.

As he grew straight and tall

The mighty Cedar, was friend to all

Many sheltered in his outstretched limbs

Swayed in the breeze, sometimes on whims!

As the branches expanded, seeds fell to ground

Ensuring his line, would forever, be around

As he reached further to the Sky

Blessed was he in the Son's eye!

Strong winds oft times shook his trunk

Though firm he stood, unwilling to flunk

Years went by, and all who knew

Under his shelter, happily grew.

Leaves and moss continued expanding

Some blew away, yet he was never demanding

Some flew far across seas,

hastened by enticing  breeze

The years go by, the mighty Cedar changes

Of his stature surely rearranges

Still standing straight and tall

Though the bark, is weathering all!

Enjoyed by many a creature

His stance in life hath become a feature

Looked up to, adored by peers

He feels the grip inside, as it sears.

One day an ill wind roars

Hard and fast, injects evil spores

He holds fast as he is able

But this wind has made him unstable.

Winds upon winds topple him over

He lies weary amid 3 leaf clover

Comes the day, where his time is all in

Another Giant of the Forest, has Fallen.

An inspiring tribute, and I like the personification. The Cedar is often seen as a symbol of resilience, purity, and spiritual protection. The Cedar tree too, with it's lofty heights and deep roots serves as a symbol of an individuals journey towards spiritual growth. Your poetic thoughts are woven together with love, heart, and respect for a father "looked up to, (and) adored by peers." Good to read your work again, Ch'erie. Peace and health to you and yours. I am very sorry for your loss. r
