Each Changing Of The Tide

The sea has been a huge part of my life since I was born. Whether on it, beside it, under it or reading about it, the ocean has filled my life with wonderful experiences. I have lived less than 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean all of my adult life. This poem celebrates my love of the sea and all of nature. This is another of the poems from my book, Acorns of Love and Wisdom.

I Looked upon an ocean
Its waters scintillating green
From the sun and its reflection
Off the vastly undulating scene

Seagulls whitely drifted
Like tiny wafting clouds
Gold sand silently sifted
Over shells like yellow shrouds

The shoreline met the horizon
Almost hidden from my view
Because morning had incased the sun
In a misty, gray tinted hue

White crested waves upended
With a muted continuous roar
And with clouds of spray descended
To inundate the shore

Pelicans floated lazily
On rising and falling swells
As sunshine sparkled maddeningly
From water in upturned shells

When the sun set in the evening
An orange moon began to rise
As if the sea itself were burning
And flames leapt toward the skies

We share this world, my love and I
Parallel these shores we reside
We live and love as time goes by
With each changing of the tide
