I have been in therapy for a year now, and my doctor says I have come a long way.

So easily you
walked out of my life,
a  most hurtful day.

You promised to always love me,
You promised to always take care of me,
Now you have left me.

How can you just walk away?
Five years together,
promises broken.

Hearts broken,
minds torn apart,
betrayal still hurts.

She was my best friend,
You couldn't keep your hands off,
and now you can have her.

It has been one year since that awful day,
I am healing, with thanks to friends,
and intense therapy.

This is a theme that comes up more often than we care to see it but the good thing is that it was only five years invested. Yes, it is painful nonetheless whether it was 5 yrs or 25 yrs...betrayal takes a major toll but you have done several things already to deal with it. 1) Writing this healing laden poem (the expression is excellent therapy) 2) You are seeking help for this great loss (not that these losers were a loss but their betrayal of your trust was). 3) You ejected these losers from your life and distanced yourself from them and their kind. 4) You certainly must realize that you are capable of loving so deeply in order for this situation to have hurt you so deeply. You have much strength and I wish you well.

the pain of betrayal is intense but there is a way out of dark valleys like that--I wish for you that true Love will find you someday-well done

The pain of betrayal is one that can knock you to your knees if you let it...writing of you feelings is healing and is a way to scream at it.
Just stay strong...

Exquisite and heartfelt!
Oh, I'm so sorry you have been betrayed, ouch.
I agree with Peter on his assessment of the two scumbags though ~
And you can be sure to find someone better, on both counts.
If it helps at all, I've sort of also been there!!!
Blessings,
Christine

It does take time for the healing, but you have achieved a great milestone and need to take stock. Betrayal is correct, but that is now part of the past and it is time to look ahead to a very bright future. Great writing...

Be always safe,
Karen

I happened to read Mr. Schlosser's review, and I think he made some very good points about this writing's content. I feel your pain and can say that I am happy that you are free from these problems--at least, their physical bodies, and, according to this writing, you are getting to some deserved relief. This is purely established and very well expressed. Good luck to you, Ragno Donna. Enjoy creating, always ....

I am with you in this, Ragno, the difficulty of recovery and healing. Stay strong and continue to express what you have to, it can only help.

Let's do some accounting shall we? Let's transfer numbers from the liabilities side of the balance sheet to the asset side. In one fell swoop, you just eliminated two scumbags from your life who undoubetdly would have stabbed you in the back at some later point in the future, perhaps at a time when you had even more invested in both friends emotionally. So now we cut losses. And now, you never have to waste time with this treacherous filth ever again. Now, you know who your real friends are. Now, voila, you come out ahead. I know, heartache sits like a razor. Been there, done that. You're making progress. You win. You're now on top of the game with quality people in your life. Liabilities just turned to assets. Hang in there. Keep writing.

I am glad that you are healing, Ragno. Betrayal is a most cruel experience and I cannot claim to have experienced it to the depth of what you have. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Easy to say, but to allow another person that much control over your life after all of these years is not good. Learn to forgive yourself for allowing him to control you for so long and you are on the way to happiness with a free conscience. It took me many, many years to do what I'm asking you to do. I no longer feel the hurt.
