We Never Wore Pajamas.

My story. My memory of my not-too-distant-past. May God forgive me.

I started a poem three days ago, and I cannot finish it.

It is called, "We Never Wore Pajamas".

I think about the words,
but there are images that I cannot make go away.

The kids and I are afraid.
Afraid of YOU.

I hide what you do to me so closely from them.
I send them away.

There is no time to put on their pajamas.
Do they even have any?

I am not sure,
but they are safe.

They are tucked safely in their bedrooms while you...
hurt me.

I am quiet so they do not hear.

I tell no one.
No one will believe me when I finally do tell anyway.

You are a boyscout.
You cover it all so well.
A teacher, a nobleman, a believer, a fine man is what they say.

But, you hurt me.

You make me less than I am,
and i am sorry,
so sorry,

to my beautiful children,
that we never wore pajamas.

Heartbreaking. You again reveal so much in a handful of verses. Well done.

Truly a soul-tearing sharing, Marcia. It is sad that your verses express a timeless and universal theme in this world/life as I have stated many times before. I admire and respect your honest sharing of your "self." Love, peace, healing, and best wishes to you,

Regis
