Whisper-wraith.
My shadow moves beside me.
Her laughter echoes even in stillness.
She tugs me along, urging me to run with her.
Dark and sinister child, mirroring
me in every way
When no one is there, my shadow
appears, wicked, impish smile
promising me adventure
She is all that I am, all that I am
not, and everything in between.
Dark and light, strong, angry,
weak, soft, cold.
She is all I love, all I despise
The shadows of...my perfect opposite,
my flawed mirror image.
Dancer in the shadows,
pirouetting into blackest
night...
Terrific write, Sylence. Great minds must run in the same channels. I thought I recognized the title. Sure enough, Robert Louis Stevenson in his Children's Garden Book of Verses has the same title listed. His poem is quite different, but modelled on a similar idea.
