Where Gods and Poets Rest
~

Within the purple mist of dreams,
Where only gods and dreamers dare
Carrara wings of butterflies,
Reflect the moon's ascetic stare
Deep within this twilight place,
The lovers and the poets dwell
Whose words do echo to the stars,
A strange enchanting magic spell
.
Poets are but dreams of gods,
That rise beyond their bygone age
To sing unknowingly their songs,
Upon the poet's arduous page
There to cull from Odin's charge,
Immortals wrapped in slumber's arms
As lotus in quiescent rest,
Must rise to greet Aurora's charms
.
When weary grows the moon, and pales,
Upon the river of the sky
Euterpe wakes from restless sleep,
To bid the poet's heart to fly
In tune to strains of lyre and flute,
The song of sweet Caliope
There sails upon those silver winds,
And whispers soft an ancient plea.
.
The sighs on breeze's breath are borne,
From mountains long forgotten now
From those who slumber deep beneath,
An age old wreath of laurel's bough
And with the breeze, comes gentle rain,
Upon which lovers' tears are heard;

For gods and lovers
cry with rain
but poets cry,
with only words.
