As one who rescues so many abandoned dogs from the streets
I cannot even watch the dog shows like Westminster anymore
They ignore the plight of millions of unwanted dogs in America
They promote more and more ‘upscale breeding,’ which I deplore

As more and more of America’s canines are now abused, and neglected, and abandoned
More and more people, continue to spend exorbitant amounts, purchasing these ‘purebreds’
And the majority of these people could care less about all of the homeless dogs in their areas
About all the unwanted, unloved dogs in America’s shelters, that so sadly, soon will be dead

The Dog Shows even dropped Pedigree Dog Food, from their lists of ‘approved sponsors’
Since Pedigree promotes dog adoption, not purchasing a dog from a breeder or a puppy mill
Very sadly today, twenty-five percent of the abandoned dogs that we rescue from the streets
Are purchased ‘purebreds;’ they too, are being dumped, and in our shelters, now being killed
