Why Should I Continue to Fight?

Dark and abysmal I know...but it is my thoughts in view of recent events. No matter what my darling Jan...I will forever and ever love you, and even if the night came today I would still be with you. I would be the wind that you hear, the rain which touches your face. I would be the reflection in the water and the sun that warms your beautiful face. Whenever you would smell the roses of spring...that my love would be me.

Why Should I Continue to Fight?
When these thoughts crossed my mind today, I recalled a poem by Dylan Thomas and questioned why?
“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light”.
Why Should I Continue to Fight?
I have held the dying in my hands and have seen the rage against the dying light.
Even today, it hurts me; pains me to see this plight, therefore why, oh why rage against the dark and inevitable coming of our eternal night?
I in wisdom know that I stand not alone, yet I in this journey of life have suffered too much pain wrought even by the hands of my fellow man.
Evil is not a noun, nor is it an adjective, but a pejorative for my very soul. Therefore why not welcome the good night?
Why, oh why rage against the dying light?
I once had dreams, but then I had youth standing strong by my side.
Today youth has faded. Replaced now by hurt and sorrow in which I abide.
Tears and laments no longer carry my weight for it is in sadness I now reside.
Therefore shall I resist, shall I fight the knowing ever present coming of the dying light?
Yes, oh yes I will like all, which were afore me with mouth agape and eyes open wide, bring once more to the witness of the dying light.

Like my uncle, who lived a long and hard-working, productive life called out to the nurses in the hospital he was staying at 102, "Nurse! Bring me a bucket! I want to kick it!" He never passed up an opportunity to Inject humor.
