Feb. 27 I received a bug bite on my butt cheek and by Sunday March 1st I was running 104.8 temp and a very large brick shaped red hot place that ran from a few inches from my hip to my crack...I was hurting so bad I could hardly change clothes and walk to the car...
When they took me into triage and took temp and blood, we didn't sit in the waiting room but for just a few minutes...once they got me into an ER room, they striped me, put a gown on me and put me on a gurney to take me for a CT scan...it wasn't but just a few minutes that a surgeon came in and told me he had two ahead of me and i had a very life threatening infection (flesh eating bacteria) that had to be gotten cut out as soon as possible...they hooked me up to several antibiotics and morphine...they took me in at 2 am and I didn't wake up until the next day...my doctor took a picture of it before a wound pump was brought in...looked like roadkill and so that's what we named it...everyday when he came in to check on it, he'd ask how the roadkill was doing.
I ended up in the hospital for nine days and a nursing home for 2 months... the wound pump stayed on for 6 weeks and bandages were changed daily. Even today after all these months I have a RN come to the house, clean what's left of the wound, take measurements and a picture to send to my surgeon even though he has turned me loose as a patient, but he will be the one to tell the nurse when I will no longer need weekly medical care...I change my bandages, clean the wound and put new bandages and antibiotic cream on it the other 6 days a week...
Still don't know if it will fill up and I won't have a deep dimple going across my butt cheek...lol Jan

Life’s Journey
How does one save themselves while attempting to save others? Should we/ I become self-absorbed and save my/ourselves? Nay I say, for if hearts are pure…if then we shall take on the burdens that others in their own travail must bear.
For the lats two months, I will admit that I have been absorbed in my own self-pity. Shame, oh shame on me for I have someo
ne dear to me, her name is Jan, and for two months, she has been through hell and has had very little support, which breaks my heart.
I also have empathy for her roommate, I have empathy for those who care/ or not care in such a disabled state. There are some providers who go into this profession; with a whole heart for what they do, yet you have some who do not give a crap if you live or die…this saddens me, oh God this brings me to tears.
Jan will be home this coming week. She will still need care. Not to belittle anyone, but I have known many who say that I am praying for you….words are nice, but sincere prayers are of the utmost importance.
Sincerely with love and hope.
