Seasons of Life
Life is not fair, so many complain as the winter of life blows mightily with its despair.
Some scowl and bemoan the bitter approaching of the coming of our last days.
They weep in a soft hush about their dreams that in youth they once claimed.
It is as if they imagine that on their deathbed they lie; surrounded by the ghost of unfulfilled potential. The ghost are the ideas that by chance or circumstance they never acted upon.
The ghost are the talents that they were given that they dismissed and failed to use.
Now they stand gathered around your bedside as life slowly begins to ebb away.
They are angry and upset as they say. WE came to you because you could have brought us to life, and now, oh now we will all go to the grave together. (Paraphrase Les Brown).
Therefore think only fondly of thy youth, yet dwell not in her midst. For yesterday and the yesterdays of long ago are departed. They remain only in our hearts and minds to give us but a faint glimmer, and a soft smile of what once was.
For many of us our season have almost run their course. Yet fear not when the winter wind of life blow. For it truly is like it has been said.
“Live each day as if it were your last, for it truly may be.”
Love one another, give to others and share your passion of life, for even though winter will come. Take comfort in knowing that a new spring shall truly follow in all its glory.
