 The Heart of an Angel

She came to me like a soft whisper. Her smile and laughter saved my dying soul.
Like unto a ray of sunshine she lifted the darkness around me and made me feel whole.
I was lost in a dark forest so deep. I had no way out as the evil which surrounded me ever did creep.
Yet in the distance I heard her soft voice. She was calling my name as to forever my heart she would keep.

She kept calling and calling as through the bramble and briars to her voice I desperately made my way.
All the while the voices of darkness danced in my head; give up they shouted for you are already dead.
I remember falling to my knees, pleading, praying that the voice would keep calling my name to where I would be led.

I closed my eyes for the salt of my tears burnt like fire and then instead of the smell of decay I smelled her sweet perfume.
I felt her soft hand touch and wipe away the tears from my face, Gentle and sweetness of her fulfilling grace.
Come with me she said, rise up from your despair. My name is Jan and God has sent me unto you for your broken heart to repair.

I arose and smiled, she softly kissed me on the cheek. She then gripped tightly my hand and spread her wings and we ascended from the darkness into skies of blue. Her eyes sparkled like diamond and she whispered ever so sweet…Allen, I love you.
