Where Are Your Words

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Writers block. Who would have thunk it? J. Allen has been writing since a very young child. The words flowed from his pen like creek water flows upon the rocks.

He is now four years free from laboring each and every day. We had always thought that once he retired we could travel to anywhere we wanted to explore and he would have so many stories to tell. But alas sickness’s, diseases and surgeries have now kept us at home and I guess these four walls give nothing to cause a creative thought to inspire him to pick up his pen…

Where Are Your Words

Where are your words that touched the hearts of those who read…
Words that inspired, that brought laughter and brought many to tears.

Some painted pictures, funny and bright.
Some showed disasters full of war and death or even strife.
But our favorites are those of love, precious and pure.
Not just of romance but also of God’s amazing Grace.

So many of your words caused those that read them to look into their minds, hearts and souls and see their true selves.
Whether they changed their ways or just ignored.
It caused them to think and even ask ‘why’.

How could they slip away from your pen?
How can you go about your day and not stop and write down your thoughts?
You ‘were’ a poet, a bard and a writer of stories.
Your words received not one but over two million views…

They came not only to read your works but many praised and valued your words.
Some cried, some laughed and some even saw red.
You made them think, to seek the answers to life’s problems. Not just their own but the problems of the world.

I watched as the words slowly left you.
It was like a death of a loved one,
You reached out and they were no longer there within reach.
No matter how hard you tried to bring them back to life, they alluded you, never to be seen, to be heard, to be penned again.

I miss your words, not just the ones that declared your undying love not just to me but even the ones of old you wrote to Leah.
It was those for her that I read before we met that showed your heart, your soul and the kind of man you were.
My friends said don’t fall for someone you have not met.
No man could be evil, cruel or deceitful that could write like that.

I love you with all my heart and soul,
You kept me on my toes with what the subject of the day would bring.
All I ask of you is
‘Where Are Your Words???

Jan,
I've wondered the same!
I've had you both deeply on my heart for at least 2 weeks..

Its GOD's grace that I am even at my computer today and found this;
I haven't written for awhile either... depression sets in, I get it.

I'm deeply sorry to hear about sickness, disease, and surgeries :(
We never cease praying for both of you and Rev. Inis and your families.

He's the one who told me, Getting old isn't for sissies, Sis.
How right he is!

I fear my dear Bubba has been through SO much, Jan, that he is just plain worn out.

The words do come eventually... they are just fewer and farther between now.

Love & Big Hugs to all Three of you.

XOXO

Thank you, Jan, for this wonderful poem letting us know…

J. Allen, I wish your words were back with this revealing explanatory poem. I was wondering where you had gone. No reason to stop now. Think of something to write about. Is Armageddon happening in the Middle East or is it just the generational argument over who owns the same god?

I'm 12 years out from that hard writing nonfiction world. And loving every moment that I write. Come back to us with your words of love here. There are so few left of those avid writers from the past. We need to encourage new writers to join and continue the camaraderie of sharing and helping one another write better.

Ron
