Losing You

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Allen is in more pain than he ever thought was possible. And being away from each other is so hard on both of us. He really could use some cheering up and words of encouragement. His Facebook is James Allen (not the one with the mask but the next one). Thanks, Jan

Losing You

I know that it isn’t so. I know that through you Jan that our love continues to grow, but… I still feel like I am losing you.

Maybe it’s not you but myself that I am losing. I’m weak as an infant and just as dependent on a group which surrounds me… yep I’m losing myself, not you.

I lie in this bed, only 30 minutes away from you my love, but it might as well be a million miles for at times in my pain, I already feel like I’m gone.

Instead of your love Jan that will accompany me to bed. It is tears that stain my face tonight for I have lost myself wrapped in an unknown world of fear… just remember baby, just remember… I will always love you.

I remember a piece you wrote in 2010 about the Lord being a God of second chances. Well, I know He is a God of many truly unlimited chances. May the good Lord provide you with blessings that overflow and so much that you cannot contain or understand them. Just be blessed in Jesus' mighty name. Amen X 110

So heartbreakingly sad. I can't think of any words that are sufficiently comforting. Only kind thoughts and soft prayers.

I really hate to see him suffer like this. Try to comfort him the best you can whenever you're there. My best to both of you.

You made me recall the three months that my father spent in the hospital before he died with above that he got after a successful heart valve replacement that led to two bouts with pneumonia. Since he ran out of Medicare, my mother had to declare poverty so that he could stand the hospital and she wouldn't have to pay the tremendous hospital bill. But they shipped him to another hospital 100 miles away. To see him for the next month before he died she had to drive there and stay an inexpensive motel.

She also suffered greatly from several ailments including complete deafness when she died in misery at 95 and 2020, just before the epidemic. I saw dad only once and never got to see mom since 2011 when I drove the 1300 miles to see her.
