"As Weak as a Kitten" The phrase is often attributed to Erle Stanley Gardner, who used it in his work 'The Case of the Drowsy Mosquito' in 1943. This idiom describes someone who is
extremely weak or lacking in strength, comparing them to a small fragile kitten.
I was born in 1940 so I am now 85, I
wish I had the strength and energy of a kitten today.
I awoke this morning
feeling as weak as a kitten.
and wondered as I got out of bed yawning
by whom was that silly phrase written.
From the moment of birth
these fiesty hungry little mites
spend their first day on earth
in squealing, scrabbling fights.
With determination they persevere
as they try to locate an elusive nipple,
so it is best that you don't interfere
just sit back to watch and giggle.
It's how kittens get to learn and grow
strength is built with milk and play,
within days their personalities show,
there are no weak kitties here I'd say.
I'm close behind you. This morning I overslept, but didn't feel the relief of that that I felt for so many years. And so many things I could no longer do because I'm too weak of motion or steady enough are gone.
