I prefer the illusion of love
to the reality,
mayhaps since it's never been
a wonderful ride for me,
and I'm unable to see it
ever lasting an eternity;
I prefer the illusion of love.
The illusion of love is all
shiny and bright.
It makes my days cheerful
and illumes darkest night,
but the reality is that
it's oft' just a long fight...
I prefer the illusion of love.
The illusion of love
makes things dreamy and sweet,
makes me feel thrilling tingles
from my scalp to my feet,
then reality drop-kicks
my heart to the street.
I prefer the illusion of love.
The illusion of love's swathed
in fantasy,
and I welcome it drunkenly,
succumb happily,
'til reality drops on me
like a felled tree.
I prefer the illusion of love.
My life's been a long one,
tricky and hard,
and for all of my struggles
there's been no reward.
I am too weak to go on,
my heart will not last...
the reality's drained it
to illusory glass.

This is Really nice. Love the last line there of the breaking and fragile, the heart. Really nice. I like illusions of love too. but like a fool keep hoping the illusion will be a reality, and dive in again.
