A place hardly understood, a people oft thought little good

By folks with minds made of wood, not perceiving things as they are.

Those that are humbled, and on Indian life have stumbled

Have oftentimes grumbled about this land from afar.

They have noticed starvation, heat, dust and deprivation;

Have had little inclination to know the place with minds ajar.

With an inbuilt duality, India has a distinct personality;

It stands up to a reality that stretches the mind to limits far.

This country can be contemporary, or unchanging if necessary;

Claiming that all is temporary, and that things nothings are.

With gates open to everyone, none is too bad under the sun;

Multiculturalism is fun; for people in India all are at par.

Come to India to awaken, let all your doubts be shaken;

For God’s sake don’t be mistaken, about who Indians really are.
