I wrote this sad poem for a dear friend of mine, who, after being in a loving relationship for two years, found out the man she was in love with was married to another. As we cried together and I heard her story, I tried to convey her thoughts into words. I can only hope that I did her story justice. Joy
In the autumn of the year
When the leaves were turning golden
Your love created in me a
A Magic burst of Springtime
That promised to remain bright
Through a long and cold winter
When you gazed into my eyes
I was held in suspension
Not complely trusting you
I wanted to return to me
Because being a part of you
Was somehow frightening
You said "Trust me, my love
For I will lead you"
But your path was rocky
Scattered with hurt and deception
Now springtime
Has the pallor of winter...
And lies cold
Within my heart.
Joy, You managed to express the pain of loss and betrayal...that is difficult for anyone to do unless you can see the pain in their eyes and feel it in your heart. You managed to do it with ease and conviction.

Very imaginative Joy from Autumn to a bust of Sprigtime. Very well penned. Good choice of words in your description. God Bless. George AKA THE WISE OLD OWL
Sad, but a beautifully written poem;it is my hope that your friend has found the motivation to face forward toward many more promising springs and summers.

Such pain is not easily expressed in poetic lines,
but you succeeded with great skill and understanding.
Your friend should love this poem, Joy. I know that

Vividly poignant (do I overuse this word?) In my mind I am reminded of the words of Lord Tennyson."I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all." Tissue, please.....Jim
Wonderfully told!
Wow, what a blend of dark and light as her love guided her down and then back to herself. I am sure you were a wonderful friend to cry to, through all the pain.
Blessings,
Christine
Joy, It's a lovely piece, but you treated him way to nicely..... You and I are usually on the same page, but I'd have had to carve him up a little bit,,,,, of course, just for the sake of my friend, but never the less we'd have sliced his ass up.....!!!!
Great write though... Thanks Dick

You captured the seasons of love in a wonderful poetic fashion that shows how deceit tears one apart.

The mischief that falsely professed love can bring is sad and very hurtful. There are those who use love as a weapon to subjugate and control another human being. The results of these sad stories range from emotional upheaval to suicide and often murder. Playing insincerely with love is an ugly, ugly game. This was a very good poem on the subject of manipulation.
