she sings of soft and mellow and yellow
verses and lines and things; she sings
of ambiguous wisdom hidden beneath
red-black tattoos and belly rings; she sings
of infinite melodrama and more drama,
she makes me look deep within, under,
around and about myself.
her voice is of sweetness refined
the heartaches and the laughter, imagine;
i can picture her smiling her photo
on the cover; she must've have been
either extremely happy or sad or not,
yes she's also a painter. can i be?
she says i can and she says she's blue
and the first time i heard her i thought
she was singing from that star
i was staring at and dreaming of.
wish i could sing like her and play
melodrama like she does and strum
life away on my guitar and eventually
strum so hard, the strings break.
wonder how many strings
she broke before she was able
able to sing like a star.
