One of a dying breed wanders
a desolate and lonely path.
Under an August desert sun
the grizzly quiet as he roams.
When across his traverse she comes
a vibrant lovely northern fox.
They stop look and ponder briefly
crossed paths of continuing treks.
Gone yet here in his memory
a delicate lovely vision.
His sojourns lead him ever on
without thinking she'd come again.
Then in the season of slumber
amid a dank southern forest.
The solitary bruin stopped
for here was this vixenal dream.
Tresses of red glowing softly
in the light of the noonday sun.
Eyes glistening with tenderness
a truly beautiful creature.
Here he did slow his journeys pace
for brief moments of reflection.
Time to meet her mind and her his
enough to wish for another time.
While he paused in reflection
his lithe body finally at rest.
She slyly glanced toward him
studying him with care, unseen.
wondering at his tenderness, his love
what stranger could this be.
Offering warmth and peace
against the veil of life's turmoil?
Fearful of the trust she placed
unkowns abound in her mind.
head tossed in defiance
but drawn by those eyes of green.
His novelty, his sudden laugh
seduce her as he turns her way.
Empathy between their joys
looking forth to their next path.
The reunion could come later
during the season of flowers.
At the father of rivers mouth
but would she come, could he hope thus.
Waiting can be sweetened torture
she occupied his thoughts and dreams.
senses dulled too long by unuse
were unsure and slow to react.
The petals have opened to bloom
and the river was thier witness.
Minds intertwining with exchange
souls joining on avian plains.
The wandering ends, they are gone
seperate yet neither alone.
within each the other resides
and yet they shall stroll arm in arm.
