Sometimes you just have to adore the flower rather than just admire it.

Thornless long vigorous stems bear
a firm rounded sepal holding
this natural fragrant treasure. The picker turns over to see
soft supple inviting petals
of inviting pastel pink hues. Seperated with deft fingers
longingly display the pistil
exposing stigma down to style. Swaying at slightest exhaled breath
delicate stamens light anters
on thin vibrant filaments. Finally with tender probing
the deeper soft receptacle
surrounding virgin ovary. Here the seed of future flowers
now can come into fruition
since the pollen has beckoned forth.

I once cleaned the weeds and poison ivy from the roses at the entrance to our community. My arms were badly scratched by the thorns, so I was grateful that I wasn't allergic to poison ivy like my twin brother. The roses looked beautiful after that, in the itching went away by the next day while the scratches healed.
